Now, outtakes from the ads have begun circulating on social media - and they are much more awkward than we remembered.
Duff looks bored and fidgety in the video, as she's told to repeat the same line over and over.
"Hey, I'm Hilary Duff from Lizzie McGuire, and you're watching Disney Channel."
Most awkward video ever? We doubt it. But tell that to the Twitterverse.
It is one of a series of behind-the-scenes videos posted to Twitter. Other clips show Raven-Symone, Tia and Tamara Mowry and America Ferrera similarly have to endlessly repeat the same line and mouse ears move.
As embarrassing as this video is, it's a considerable improvement from the headlines Duff attracted last month.
Duff and her new boyfriend Jason Walsh found themselves in hot water over their choice of Halloween costume.
The couple dressed in a couples Pilgrim and Native American chief costume, and people wasted no time labelling them racist and being guilty of cultural appropriation.
Duff later took to Twitter to apologise, explaining that the costume was not thought through.
