The Auckland Festival of Photography is celebrating its 10th year.

It kicks off today and runs until June 21.

Festival spokeswoman Julia Durkin said it is great to have achieved the 10th year.

She said the festival started in 2004 with 10 exhibitions and events and this year there are more than 90.

"We've kind of developed to a point of maturity where we can sit back and feel really happy about what we've done for the last 10 years," she said.

Ms Durkin said the festival now has more depth, breadth and quality in its exhibitions and is able to partner better with international festivals.
