A sequel to hit 1994 comedy Dumb and Dumber is in the works, with shooting scheduled to start in September.
The Farrelly Brothers film, which propelled comedian Jim Carrey into stardom, was a box office smash, costing just US$17 million to make but raking in US$280 million.
Shortlist reported the sequel - starring both Carrey and his co-star Jeff Daniels, and again directed by the Farrelly Brothers - would start shooting in September.
A 2003 prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd didn't feature either star and was a box office bomb.
The news was confirmed at a press conference for the Farrelly Brothers' new film, The Three Stooges.
"We did not do Dumb & Dumberer," Peter Farrelly said.
"That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it.
"Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched Dumb & Dumber and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it'."
It's just one of many sequels or remakes of old films that's in the works, with a new Total Recall planned, and sequels to Blade Runner, Ghostbusters, Twins and Bill and Ted's Bogus Adventure all in various stages of completion.
