David Duchovny (L) starred as Agent Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson (R) as Agent Dana Scully in The X Files.
Plans for a second film version of the hit 1990s TV series The X Files are in full swing, according to reports.
David Duchovny, one of the principal actors of the series, broke the news to reporters this week - and said he'll be receiving a script for
the proposed film as early as next week.
Duchovny also confirmed that sidekick Gillan Anderson is onboard to reprise her role as a sleuthing special agent on the hunt for alien existence.
The script has been written by creator Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotnitz, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The dynamic writing pair co-authored the first X-Files movie, which hit the big screen almost a decade ago.
Duchovny spoke of the new film developments at the Television Critics Association press tour, while promoting his new comedy Californication.
