The theme song to the new James Bond movie Spectre, was unveiled today and fans have mixed reactions to it.
Pop sensation Sam Smith was recruited to write and perform the Bond anthem. In a video posted to the Bond Twitter account, Smith explained that he wanted to "bring out something timelessly classic that works with the project and the film."
Thus Writings On The Wall was born, and so far the fan reaction to the tune has been mixed.
One Twitter user said "I'm not really digging Sam Smith's song for James Bond. They should've bring back Adele." while another suggest that James Bond show have the "license to kill Sam Smith".
But others were really happy with Smith's Spectre song, calling the track "beautiful".
The song's popularity has set it up to potentially become the first Bond song on the UK music charts to reach number 1. The BBC reported that Smith told Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw that "I don't think it's a number one friendly song if you know what I mean."
"Who knows, but I don't think it will [get to number one] at all - but I'm not looking for that."
The James Bond film Spectre is set for release in New Zealand on November 12.
