Miley's real name revealed - but she's not the only one

Singer Miley Cyrus has revealed her real name in an interview with Howard Stern this week.

She told Stern that her birth name is Destiny Hope, but her father called her Miley because she was "always smiling", and the nickname stuck.

It's not the first time Miley's revealed her real name but fans who weren't in the know previously are losing their minds over the news.

But changing your name for stardom appears to be a fairly common thing.

Earlier this year it was revealed actress Meghan Markle's real name is actually Rachel, the same name as her character in hit TV series Suits. Meghan is her middle name.

Storm Keating, wife of singer Ronan, is another public figure who chooses to use her middle name, having being born Sharyn Storm Uechtritz.
