Funnywoman Melissa McCarthy is producing a TV show loosely inspired by her own life.
The actress and her husband, Ben Falcone, have teamed up with a trio of writers from Groundlings, the comedy sketch group based in LA famous for giving comedians such as McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Lisa Kudrowtheir start, to create the show.
Currently titled Friends with Melissa, the show's pilot has been picked up by US cable network TV Land, according to Variety.
McCarthy is slated to appear in the pilot which will follow a trio of writers who watch as their Groundlings colleagues, such as McCarthy, go on to be successful film stars.
Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras, are the writers and executive producers behind the project and are the Groundlings alumni whose lives the show will be based on.
McCarthy and Falcone told Variety they are "so excited to be working with Hugh, Rachel and Larry - such funny people, who are great friends. TV Land is a great place for this show."
The married couple are executive producing the show through their production company, On the Day.
