New Stormtroopers, new lightsabers, new cast members - and one helluva flip from the Millennium Falcon! JJ Abrams' trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues the saga created by George Lucas and picks up 30 years after Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.
In case you missed the memo, today is Star Wars Trailer Day.
Today 88 seconds of JJ Abrams' new Star Wars film landed on the internet and in selected US cinemas - watch the trailer above - but the wait for some was too much. a fact which gave peoplewith access to editing software and too much time on their hands an excellent opportunity for putting together their own.
YouTube has removed several videos citing its policy "against spam, scams, and commercially deceptive content" but happily for those biding their time, or for the just plain gullible among us, plenty remain.
With the living nightmare of Jar Jar Binks still seared into Star Wars memory, fans need Abrams's film to be good, and the fake trailers either try to convey that, or just take the mickey out of previous tropes, such as lens flare.
Other trailers have been "Rick rolled", a favourite internet practise which teases one thing, then delivers Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up.
While some of the trailers are better than others (and, definitely, are funnier), the real one has yet to land. Not that that has stopped people from getting their knickers in a twist when they have discovered their mistake.
