Lorde has scored four nominations for this year's American Music Awards.

The Kiwi pop star is up for Artist of the Year, Favourite Female Artist, Favourite Album and Favourite Artist - Alternative Rock.

Iggy Azalea topped the nominations with six, while John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams each scored five.

The American Music Awards are held on November 23.
