Jess Origliasso and Ruby Rose star in clip for The Veronicas' 'On Your Side'

Ruby Rose and her girlfriend Jess Origliasso have released the clip they've been filming here in New Zealand, and it basically plays out like a gritty cinematic take on love.

The clip was written and directed by Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose, to serve as the music video for On Your Side by Origliasso's band The Veronicas.

It follows the love story of two women - one of whom is battling a drug addiction - and takes viewers from sexy bedroom scenes right through to a bloody bar fight, in which Rose gets a chance to play action star.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Origliasso praised Rose's creativity on the project, saying working with her was an "incredible experience, both personally and professionally".

"Lisa [her sister and the other half of The Veronicas] and I have always been drawn to unconventional and honest storytelling through our music. Ruby brought this to the forefront in our video," she said.

Origliasso and Rose confirmed they had rekindled their relationship after eight years apart, by posting a photo to Instagram earlier this month.
