Jennifer Lawrence says no to Hunger Games prequels

Count actress Jennifer Lawrence out of having anything to do with proposed prequels to The Hunger Games franchise.

Lawrence has put a line through being involved in spin-offs of the sci-fi adventure series, which was supposed to end with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

The 25-year-old, who brought Katniss Everdeen to life on the big screen, says it's way too early to be re-entering the world of Panem with her bow and arrows.

"I wouldn't be involved," Lawrence told Variety.com.

"I think it's too soon. They've got to let the body get cold, in my opinion."

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 has topped the weekend box office takings in Australia for four straight weeks.

Its international success prompted Lionsgate's vice-chairman Michael Burns to announce at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference in New York last week that the studio was exploring developing prequels to the franchise.

Lionsgate has not officially announced any spin-off from the franchise, which is based on Suzanne Collins' highly successful trilogy of dystopian novels in which adolescents fight each other to the death in a post-apocalyptic America dubbed Panem.

"Whatever extensions of The Hunger Games brand we pursue, the intent is not to glorify violence by arbitrarily telling arena stories, but to continue Suzanne Collins' exploration of the concepts of just war theory."
