Twenty years ago it was Eminem who was always making headlines, but these days it appears to be his three daughters stealing the limelight.

The US rapper's eldest child Alaina Scott announced her engagement today, sharing a heartwarming Instagram post with her boyfriend of seven years, Matt Moeller, who was seen getting down on one knee.

The news has cast a spotlight on the Lose Yourself rapper's three very different children, with his only biological daughter Hailee Jade a successful social media influencer, while his adopted daughter Alaina enjoys quiet life out of the spotlight.

Eminem's youngest daughter Stevie – who is adopted – also recently came out with some big news of her own.

Here is everything we know about Eminem's three children:

Alaina – who is technically Eminem's niece – was born in 1993 under the name Amanda, and is the biological child of Dawn Scott, the twin sister of Eminem's ex-wife Kim Scott.

Eminem – real name Marshall Mathews – met Kim and her sister when they were in high school in Michigan, US in the '80s. He legally adopted Alaina sometime in the 2000s as Dawn was struggling from drug abuse.

Dawn later died of a drug overdose in 2016.

Alaina, 28, who goes by the nickname Lainey and is referenced in a string of Eminem's songs, lives in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from Oakland University in 2017.

Eminem developed a close bond with Alaina from an early age. A few years prior to her birth, Kim and Dawn ran away from home and moved in with Eminem and his mother, Debbie Nelson, in 1987.

In Eminem's hit 2004 song Mockingbird, he refers to himself as Lainey's "daddy".

"Lainey I'm talking to you too, Daddy's still here. I like the sound of that, yeah, it's got a ring to it, don't it?"

He also said in a 2004 interview: "I have full custody of my niece. My niece has been a part of my life ever since she was born. Me and Kim pretty much had her, she'd live with us wherever we was at."

Hailie is Eminem's only biological child, whom he shares with Kim.

She was born in 1995, with Eminem and Kim tying the knot four years later in 1999. They later divorced in 2001 but agreed to share custody.

The pair later married again in 2006 before getting a divorce four months later and again agreeing to joint custody of Hailie.

These days Hailie, now 25, is a successful social media influencer with 2.3 million Instagram followers.

She regularly shares photos of her glamorous life, including a bevy of bikini photos and her edgy outfits.

Hailie, who is also mentioned in a host of Eminem's songs, graduated from Michigan State University in 2018 with a psychology degree, and has been dating her boyfriend Ewan McLintock since 2016.

She shared a rare photo with him back in July.

Stevie Laine

Eminem's youngest child Stevie is 19.

They recently came out as non-binary and changed their name to Stevie Laine, after being born under the name Whitney Scott Mathers.

Stevie is the biological daughter of Kim and her ex-partner Eric Hartter, with whom Kim struck up a relationship after splitting up with Eminem in 2001.

After Eminem and Kim reconciled years later, the rapper adopted Stevie in 2005. Stevie's biological father, Eric, reportedly battled drug addiction and he died last year at the age of 40.

Stevie, who shared their non-binary news in a TikTok video in August, said they'll use the pronouns they/she/he going forward.

Stevie said they were "more comfortable" with their body and self.

"Forever growing and changing," Stevie wrote alongside a series of photos of their transformation over the years. "I spent a long time trying to pick a name I felt uncomfortable with and the first name I felt comfortable with is Stevie!"

Stevie – who has largely avoided the spotlight – came out as bisexual in 2017 and requested at the time to go by the pronouns she/they.

In Eminem's 2010 song Going Through Changes, he mentioned all three of his kids. "Hailie, this one is for you, Whitney and Alaina, too, I still love your mother, that'll never change, think about her every day, we could never get it together, hey."
