KEY POINTS:
The beautiful people are breeding. Chiefly Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
The rumoured pregnancy features in the New Zealand Woman's Weekly and Woman's Day but the Weekly goes a step further with a report on "Hollywood's Baby Boom".
Among the beautiful ones contributing to the planet's overpopulation crisis are Gwen Stefani, J-Lo, Cate Blanchett, Halle Berry and, er, Tori Spelling.
But there's nary a mention of Nicole Kidman, or Neek as she's known in the Lucky Country, which is surprising given the hysteria that accompanied her then-rumoured pregnancy some months back.
But the mags have clearly moved on to Brangelina, and what a studied example in one-up(wo)manship it was.
The Weekly fires the first salvo by saying Jolie is having twins. Proof of that was the "considerable" baby bump that could not be concealed by the billowing folds of the vintage Hermes gown Jolie wore to the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
"Perhaps even big enough for twins, as some of the star's friends believe," burbles the Weekly.
Rumours of a rift between Brad and Ange also appear to have ended.
"Their love has even charmed the cynical showbiz people around them. Some of them had tears in their eyes at Angelina's happiness," one insider said.
Woman's Day doesn't waste time hinting at baby bumps. It reports the actress told family and friends she was expecting twins - and that it was an IVF pregnancy. It also cites the lovefest between the pretty pair at the guild awards. "He didn't stray from her side all night. It was like watching newlyweds - almost sickening."
In other news, the Day reports that troubled star Britney Spears' recent erratic behaviour could be attributed to bipolar disorder, which in itself could have been heightened by her rumoured addiction to crystal meth, or P.
As if that wasn't enough, New Idea reports that Britney's former fling, Adnan Ghalib, may be deported. Turns out the native Afghan raised in England has a secret first wife. The couple filed for divorce six months after marrying in 2000, claiming they had separated after 85 days.
But if Ghalib did not declare the divorce when he received US residency, he could be in the country illegally - so it could be back to the mother country for him.
Meanwhile, that other famous mother-country export, Hugh Grant, may finally be settling down, according to New Idea's cover story.
"I told myself that being single in your 30s is fine. But at 46 it's a bit worrying," he said last year.
And the lucky woman? None other than former flame Jemima Goldsmith.
"He's seen enough actresses and models to last him a lifetime, but no one can match Jemima for pure class."
But there's a hitch - Hugh still has to convince Jemima's mother, Lady Annabel Goldsmith, that he's marriage material.
Wonder why she'd think that.
