Last week, Feig confirmed on Twitter that the sequel to the franchise will centre on an all-female team and will star "hilarious women".
A reboot of the Eighties films has been rumoured for some time, with original actor Bill Murray backing the idea of a new female trio.
The actor said he did not want to return to the reboot, but proposed Bridesmaids actresses Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig as possible stars.
"Melissa would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny - God, she's funny!", he told the Toronto Star.

Feig will reunite with The Heat screenwriter Katie Dippold to co-write the script, with Ivan Reitman serving as a producer on the film, which has yet to be given a release date.
