Game of Thrones: Why Cersei Lannister and Bronn are never in the same scene

A number of key characters met for the first time in that epic Game of Thrones finale on Monday.

But before Cersei Lannister arrived to meet Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, Bronn took Podrick and left "the fancy folks" to talk.

It certainly wasn't the most interesting moment in the scene, but there may be a bizarre reason 15-years-in-the-making that explains why Bronn exited before Cersei showed up.

According to a Telegraph report in 2014, actors Lena Headey (Cersei) and Jerome Flynn (Bronn) dated in 2002, but their relationship ended badly and they refuse to appear on screen together.

"Jerome and Lena aren't on speaking terms any more and they are never in the same room at the same time," a crew member reportedly told The Telegraph.

"It's a pity because they appeared to have patched things up for a while, but now the word is they should be kept apart at all costs."

The two characters have little to do with each other, despite having a strong mutual connection in Cersei's brother and Bronn's friend, Jamie Lannister. A reddit thread about the two characters managed to dig up one scene in which the two briefly cross paths - Bronn goes to meet the third Lannister sibling Tyrion, and Cersei walks briskly past him without a word.

Luckily for the showrunners, the actors have little reason to appear in the same scenes. The characters have nothing to do with each other beyond their mutual connections; Cersei is a highborn queen who cares little for those from less privileged backgrounds such as Bronn.
