Ellen DeGeneres apologises to Channing Tatum's ex Jenna Dewan for on-air mistake

Ellen DeGeneres apologised to actress and dancer Jenna Dewan during Wednesday's episode of her television show for accidentally referring to as "Jenna Dewan-Tatum".

Dewan and her husband, actor Channing Tatum, announced their separation on April 2. They have a five-year-old daughter named Everly.

Later in April, Dewan changed her name on social media from "Dewan-Tatum" to "Dewan".

But when Dewan arrived on the show to talk about her dance competition show World of Dance alongside her fellow judges, DeGeneres introduced the star using Dewan's former name.

"Now we are going to bring out your fellow judges and host for your show 'World of Dance,' Jenna Dewan-Tatum — and Jenna Dewan, sorry — Derek Hough, and Ne-Yo," said DeGeneres.

After chatting about World of Dance, DeGeneres took a moment to apologise to Dewan.

"I have to say before we go to break, I'm so sorry," she said. "I introduced you and I — it was just such a habit, and I have to say the way that you and Channing are handling everything is beautiful, and for your daughter, and the statements have been great.

"And I apologise, I just have known both of you for so long."

"I know, I know," Dewan said. "Thank you. Honestly thank you and everybody for all the love and the support. It's truly so moving. It's all love."
