Dr Luke's lawyer responds to Kesha abuse claims

A lawyer for Dr. Luke has responded to Kesha's latest rape and abuse allegations made against the powerful music producer.

Lawyer Christine Lepera has told People magazine that the lawsuit filed against her client is a "spectacular and outrageous fiction that will go down in flames."

"As the truth emerges, this sad and misguided smear campaign will only hurt Kesha," Lepera said in a statement issued to the US publication.

Lepera insists Dr.Luke, who's real name is Lukasz Gottwald, hasn't seen the TiK ToK star in years.

"This kind of cynical grandstanding in which false claims of abuse are used as a negotiating tactic insults real victims," Lepera added.

Kesha filed the damning civil lawsuit against her former mentor earlier this week.

In a countersuit, Dr. Luke accused Kesha of defaming and extorting him, claiming the singer and her mother had threatened to go public with various stories about his alleged inappropriate behaviour unless he released her from the contract she signed with him when she was 18.

On Wednesday, Kesha's lawyer Mark Geragos revealed that his client was considering filing criminal charges against the producer.

In Kesha's lawsuit, the pop star claims years of abuse at the hands of Gottwald led to mental and self-esteem problems, which resulted in a rehab spell earlier this year.

Kesha spent 60 days at the Timberline Knolls rehabitlition centre earlier this year to treat an eating disorder.
