Rita Wilson revealed in December that nine months after she recovered from Covid-19, she still had the virus' antibodies in her system.

Now, she has revealed the antibodies are gone, potentially leaving her open to reinfection with the virus.

While chatting on the Ellen DeGeneres show in a video interview, the 64-year-old singer/actress, who was diagnosed with the virus in March 2020, discussed how she's doing now.

"I don't have the antibodies anymore. I just tested two weeks ago, and I don't have the antibodies anymore but it's okay, I have a mask. And I have hand sanitiser so I'm back like everyone else."

On previously having the antibodies, Wilson explained: "You kind of feel superhero-like and superhuman because you have the antibodies and you feel like you can go places and do things except nobody else can go anywhere and do anything."

DeGeneres, who has just got over Covid herself, asked Wilson if she had been getting calls for advice since she and husband Tom Hanks got it "early on".

"Yes, we got a lot of calls and it was actually really lovely to hear from people. And I know we talked when you had it. And it's horrible to have it. Hopefully now the vaccine's going to be out there and people can get it, and we can get back to normal life soon."

The television host pointed out how "people are scared of you and they run away", when they discover you have it.

Wilson said: "We were so early on in getting it that we were completely isolated and we didn't see anybody. It was just us. And sometimes he scared me, so I did run away."

Wilson and Hanks contracted the virus in March 2020 while they were in Australia for work.

In January, DeGeneres returned to her show after her coronavirus diagnosis forced her to take an early end-of-year break from the embattled daytime programme.

"Obviously there are a lot of negative things going on, so I wanted to talk about something positive – my Covid test," DeGeneres said in her opening monologue, revealing that she discovered she had tested positive while in hair and make-up backstage before a show taping.

Covid-19 update: Four new Covid cases in managed isolation

Her assistant Craig delivered the news she had coronavirus. "And then everyone around me ran away. It's funny, people just really get scared. They ran … some have not come back since."

DeGeneres quarantined at home, sleeping in a different room to wife Portia de Rossi.

"This is my experience with Covid: The first three days, I slept for 16 hours a day. And then on the fourth day, I woke up with back spasms and thought I had pulled a muscle. It just persisted and the doctor put me on pain pills and muscle relaxers – jackpot, finally this thing is paying off!"

DeGeneres said the back pain got worse until "it felt like I had cracked a rib". She experienced no other symptoms: "I didn't have a headache, I didn't have a fever, I didn't lose my sense of taste … I'm very blessed that was it for me.

"The weird thing is I still don't know where I got it. I wear a mask, I wash my hands, I only lick three or four door handles, so it's a mystery."
