A film fans have labelled "perfect" is getting a Hollywood makeover - and they're not happy about it.
Director Christopher Nolan's thriller Memento is set to be remade according to The Hollywood Reporter, but many believe the classic should be left alone.
The movie script was adapted froma short story by Nolan's brother Jonathan and stars Guy Pearce, sporting bleach blonde hair.
It first screened in 2000 at the Venice International Film Festival and had Oscar nominations for best original screenplay and best film editing.
The story follows Pearce, who is trying to track down his wife's killer, while suffering from a condition that affects his memory. He uses unique tattoos on his body to jog his memory.
"This is a quality that we feel really supports and justifies a remake. The bar is set high thanks to the brilliance or Christopher Nolan, but we wouldn't want it any other way."
Memento has constantly ranked among the best films of its decade, and many believe it should be left as it was originally intended.
Twitter soon responded with angry commenters who think a new version of Nolan's hit would be overkill.
Point Break? Unnecessary but whatever. Robocop? Unneeded but I'll deal with it. MEMENTO? That's the last straw. Stop tarnishing greatness!
