"If u don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry..." he continued, "...stay out my f***in mentions pls."
Harris and Swift are one of the highest-earning celebrity couples. In June Swift wrote an open letter to Apple complaining that the company was streaming music without paying the musicians. Apple did a backflip and said it would "pay artists for streaming, even during customer's free trial period."
Malik wasn't put off my Harris' Twitter rant.
"Ha you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate," Malik replied. "You clearly didn't understand what I just said either."
The 22-year-old then tweeted to 31-year-old Harris, "So I suggest you calm your knickers before them dentures fall out."
"Oh and I write my own s*** too d***head," said Malik.
Harris did calm his knickers, and tried to make amends.
"@zaynmalik all good, it was the quote not you personally mate," he tweeted. "Best of luck, genuinely. You've got a great voice."
