Do you love dogs? Of course you do. You're not a monster.
Well here's some good news: Netflix is releasing a new docuseries — a "dogumentary", if you will — which explores the unique bond we share with man's best friend.
The six-part series centres on the emotional connection betweenpeople across the world and their furry pets, in Syria, Japan, Italy, the United States and Costa Rica.
According to Netflix, the upcoming series is "an elegant, engaging, and cinematic vérité documentary series celebrating the deep emotional bonds between people and their beloved four-legged best friends".
"Dogs takes us on an inspirational journey exploring the remarkable, perhaps even magical qualities that have given these animals such a special place in all of our hearts," the streaming service said in a press release.
The show follows a range of different people, including 11-year-old Corrinne, who suffers from traumatic seizures and has her canine pal Rory by her side to assist; Ayham, a Syrian refugee in Germany who is trying to find a way to reunite with his Siberian husky Zeus; and Italian fisherman Alessandro, who relies on his 10-year-old Labrador, Ice, to help the family business during tourist season.
The show aims to highlight not only how we can look after our furry pets, but how they take care of us.
"Dogs don't just make us feel loved, dogs make us feel safe," explained director Glenn Zipper in an interview with Variety. "In the world we live in today, no matter how divided we are, we should take care to realise how much dogs mean to all of us, and how our bond with them can help bring us together."
