Brad Pitt opens up on love, drugs and family life

Brad Pitt has opened up about love, family and his drug-addled past in his first interview since fiancee Angelina Jolie announced she had undergone a double mastectomy.

In an interview with Esquire, the 49-year-old said his chaotic family life and relationship with Jolie have made him happiest he has ever been.

"I have very few friends. I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven't known life to be any happier.

"I'm making things. I just haven't known life to be any happier," he said.

He said his big family, which includes children Maddox, 11, Pax, nine, Zahara, eight, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, keeps him grounded.

"I love it. I love it. I love it. I hate it when they're gone. I hate it. Maybe it's nice to be in a hotel room for a day - 'Oh, nice, I can finally read a paper.' But then, by the next day, I miss that cacophony, all that life."

Pitt's love for Jolie, who he supported through her double mastectomy in February, was also revealed.

The couple's eight-year-old little girl, Zahara, reportedly suggested Pitt still can't keep his hands off his 37-year-old fiancée.

Pitt's close friend and furniture business partner Frank Pollaro told Esquire: "Once I walked in and Angie was standing there and Zahara walked up and said, 'Daddy, you're not going to start making out with Mommy again, are you?' And it's like that.

"This is a guy who has tried not to do any sexy scenes with other women since he's met Angelina. He's crazy about her, and she's the same way about him."

Frank also revealed that the couple are obsessed with their children.

He explained: "No matter how hard he's working, if one of those kids runs by the window he'll get out of his chair and give them a kiss. And I don't think I've ever seen Angie without one of those children in her arms."
