With a combined net worth of $530 million ($US400 million) including luxury properties around the world, the Brangelina divorce promises to be a real estate bloodbath.
The fall of Hollywood's golden couple heralds a looming property settlement that could put some of the most luxurious estates in the United States and Europe back on the market.
LOS FELIZ, HOLLYWOOD
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's primary residence, a sprawling compound at Los Feliz in Hollywood, comes with a main five-bedroom house - the same one that Pitt lived in with Jennifer Aniston until their 2005 divorce - along with several smaller structures, swimming pools and a park for the kids.
Some commentators have predicted that Pitt will stay put, having lived at the estate for longer than Jolie.
Pitt reportedly paid $US1.7 million for the original property in 1994, when he bought it from actor Cassandra Peterson, best known for her role in Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. The estate has been expanded over the years, with extra properties added and the main house renovated extensively.
MALIBU, CALIFORNIA
Then there's the Malibu beach house that Pitt bought for $US8.4 million in 2005, around the time that he split from Aniston.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom ocean front home is on the market for $US13.75 million.
SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA
Pitt and Jolie also own a $US5 million beachfront holiday home in Santa Barbara, bought for $US4 million in 2000. The coastal ranch sits on 11 acres and is right next to the Gaviota State Park, known for its pristine beaches.
If Jolie is in need of a hideaway to escape the attention over her relationship split, she may decide to hole up at the couple's $US60 million estate in southern France.
The Château Miraval in Correns, near Brignoles, is where Jolie lived while pregnant with twins Vivienne and Knox in 2008. It is also where the Jolie-Pitts wed in August 2014. The grounds of Miraval are home to several residences, with a total of 35 bedrooms.
She has previously said that she enjoys spending time there because it makes her feel close to her late mother Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007.
However, it has been reported that the estate may be up for sale, along with the vineyard that produces the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé.
Pitt is said to have been more involved in the winemaking venture than Jolie.
The property, which is near Aix-en-Provence, stretches over 1000 acres, with the chateau itself having been extensively renovated.
It includes a number of properties with a combined total of 35 bedrooms and has its own lake, along with outdoor and indoor swimming pools, fountains and aqueducts. Inside the main home are a jacuzzi, a billiards room, separate gyms and a banquet hall.
FRENCH QUARTER, NEW ORLEANS
The Jolie-Pitts have reportedly been trying to offload the New Orleans mansion they bought and renovated a decade ago since last year.
Reportedly worth almost $US6 million, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom 1830s French Quarter estate served as Pitt's home while he was filming The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in 2006.
Having bought the property for a reported $3.7 million, the pair originally listed it for $US6.5 million, but were forced to knock $US850,000 off the asking price when it failed to sell.
The historic mansion features Venetian plastered walls, marble mantles and fireplaces, crown mouldings, a grand spiral staircase and an elevator, along with a private courtyard and a two-storey guesthouse.
LAUREL CANYON, LOS ANGELES
Jolie reportedly purchased this home in Laurel Canyon, a trendy suburb of Los Angeles, in 2007, but it remains unclear whether she and Pitt still own the property.
Even back then, reports that Jolie had viewed the property sparked speculation of an impending split.
German-born property developer Wolfgang Wind was the previous owner of the two-bedroomed home, which was listed for $US2 million and had a swimming pool that came with its own waterfall.
It remains unclear whether the pair's not-for-profit Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which supports various causes around the world, will continue. The foundation's website is currently down, with a landing page saying that it is "under construction".
