Awkward on-air ZM radio proposal has a happy ending

A ZM radio host who met her new partner just three months ago will marry him in Las Vegas - but then have the marriage annulled just an hour later.

PJ Harding met her boyfriend - Australian radio personality Michael Batty - after her co-host Jase Hawkins played matchmaker live on air.

Harding, 24, and Batty, 27, who works for SeaFM on the Sunshine Coast, hit it off and have been having a long distance relationship ever since.

But Hawkins turned their relationship up a notch by making Harding propose to Batty live on air as part of a deal to get the radio duo over to the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas.

After Harding's awkward proposal, Batty said yes - only to be told that the marriage would be annulled after an hour.

"Life is really short so I think it should be enjoyed ... we've had some great times in Sydney, and on the Sunshine Coast, and that weekend on Waiheke Island where I made that really awful cheeseboard," said Harding, squirming with awkwardness.

"I guess what I'm trying to say, Michael, is, will you marry me for an hour?"

Batty replied: "Yeah, yeah, no problem, yeah, definitely, I'll get married to you for an hour."

Harding will meet Batty in Vegas for their wedding at The Little White Wedding Chapel next Friday. It will air live from 4pm, before being annulled an hour later.
