Wellington band Drax Project have also played, making this one of their biggest gigs ever and setting them up ahead of three opening performances for Ed Sheeran's upcoming tour of New Zealand.
The festival, back for its second year after a hugely successful first run in 2016, features a lineup of local and international acts including headliners Beck, Phoenix, Justice and the legendary Grace Jones who will take one of the festival's six stages later today.
The festival will also mark the return to the stage for rapper Scribe for the first time since he faced legal issues last year, other than a guest appearance at Rhythm and Vines over the New Year period.
He and P Money were added to the bill after US rapper Young Thug cancelled his appearance after being forced to cancel his Australian dates over visa issues. He did have a New Zealand visa and organisers pushed to get him down here but said he "just wouldn't do it".
Auckland City Limits is also home to some spectacular Auckland Eats food options and is on now until 11pm.
Despite fears the weather may not play ball for the highly anticipated event, fans are lapping up the beautiful weather and taking to social media to share the summer vibes and give an early thumbs up to the festival.
