Album Review: She's So Rad, In Circles

In complete contrast to Jeremy Toy's work as Opensouls soul-funk monster songwriter and guitarist, She's So Rad is his dreamy, electronic, fuzz-laden solo project, his first outing as a vocalist too, with contributions from Sami Sister Anji. Filtering his experience as a young punk guitarist through the matured ears of an experienced beat maker and pop producer, he creates a 10-track collection of effortless pop songs disguised with a little shoegaze, a few low-fi effects, and gender-ambiguous vocals. Early single Iceblock is ideal road trip material, while the delicate and melancholy Georgie's Song was written by Sami for her sister Madeleine's TV character in Supercity.
