Switch at Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger, the clothing maker known for its red, white and blue designs, says chairman Silas Chou will resign his post this month as the company seeks independent directors.

Chief executive officer Joel Horowitz will step down in March 2004, the company says.

Tommy Hilfiger, the firm's principal designer, will become chairman on October 28. Chou, 56, has been chairman since Tommy Hilfiger was formed in 1989 and Horowitz, 51, CEO since 1994.
