A recent financial filing revealed Microsoft is using an Irish subsidiary, in part, to bankroll its Auckland build.
Part Infratil-owned CDC Data Centres has also embarked on a multi-data centre build n the north and northwest of the city, with locations under wraps. In Australia, Microsoft and CDC partner closely and share infrastructure. The pair have refused to say if their respective Auckland projects crossover.
Last year, Microsoft announced it planned to establish its first New Zealand data centre but no exact location was given due to security reasons, although Auckland was identified.
Latest property records show Microsoft New Zealand's name on a now-empty site on Kakano Rd off Fred Taylor Dr, Westgate, Auckland.
