Navy ponders Devonport land options

A question-mark hangs over the future of 33ha of prime land in Devonport, North Shore City, which has about 450 Navy houses and flats on it.

The Navy wants to replace the older dwellings, but any surplus land would go back to Government ownership and could be delegated to agencies such as Housing New Zealand. This could result in 400 state houses being built in the seaside suburb.
