Fast freight run to be introduced

Tranz Rail Holdings plans an overnight Auckland-Wellington "sprint" service for containerised freight.

The service, starting on October 29, will leave Auckland at 8pm and arrive in the capital at 7am, enabling consignees to pick up containers and begin unloading at the start of the business day.

The Monday-to-Friday service is intended to capture the freight forwarding market
