The euro rose to its highest level against the United States dollar in more than four years after the European Central Bank left interest rates unchanged yesterday, keeping its yield premium over the US.
The euro rose to more than US$1.1518 on the news. The ECB kept its benchmark rate at 2.5 per cent, double the Federal Reserve's rate, which was also left unchanged this week.
