The dairy sector's industry-good funding agency, Dairy InSight, says it will invest $43 million into 101 projects in the 2004-05 year.
Chairman Ian Robb said the organisation would put 53 new projects on its books.
Many of last year's projects would also be rolled over, including the investments in the Animal Health
Board's TB strategy and the Dexcel extension service, he said.
The calibre of applications and their scope was impressive. Details would be announced later this year.
The new projects were for a range of ideas for making improvements to production, farm management and other aspects of dairy farming.
Of the 200 applications for funding to begin from June 1 this year, 23 were eliminated because they did not fit the industry-good criteria.
The remaining 177 were reviewed by an independent advisory panel of national programme leaders with technical expertise in farm systems and areas such as animal health, environment and feeding.
A key factor in the process was that new projects complemented last year's projects.
