'Let's buy land in China'

New Zealanders should have the right to buy land in China, says a farm group leader.

"We are saying let's have like with like," Federated Farmers president Don Nicolson said in an interview on Bloomberg television yesterday, referring to Natural Dairy's attempt to buy the Crafar farms.

"We can trade land or assets with many countries through a regulatory process now but not many of the countries we are talking about in this equation have the same willingness to have the regulatory process in the way we have it," Nicolson said.
