Building regulations for small apartments to be reviewed

An increase in tiny apartments has prompted the Building Industry Authority to review aspects of the Building Code.

Authority chief executive Richard Martin said the code did not specify minimum apartment sizes but did demand certain amenities.

Increasing demand for smaller apartments had resulted in the authority having "several strands of work under way" and apartment buyers should be cautious in the meantime.
