Booming export-fuelled March trade surplus confirmed

Export figures today confirmed a booming export-led trade surplus in March.

Statistics New Zealand said that exports were worth $3.026 billion, up from $2.609 billion in February, while imports were worth $2.569 billion, up from $2.346 billion, giving a trade surplus of $456 million for March.

That compares with the preliminary estimate of $451 million issued last month and economists' forecasts of just $33 million.
