Air New Zealand staffer leaves after blow up doll controversy

Another Air New Zealand staff member involved in embarrassing social media posts is understood to have left the airline.

One of those involved left the airline some time ago and one of two suspended after the posts were made public this week is believed to no longer work for the company.

Air New Zealand's chief executive Christopher Luxon says bad behaviour by crew posts let down the entire company.

''Our obvious concern is that the behaviour displayed is a clear breach of our code of conduct and more importantly has let down 11,000 hard working Air New Zealanders.''

He said the airline was treating the matter very seriously.

In the social media postings a pilot is seen with an inflatable doll and a flight attendant spits water.

The images were believed to have been shared to Facebook and Instagram after staff sent them on Snapchat.

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said today she was not aware of any complaints from passengers.

Yesterday the spokeswoman said the company was "shocked and appalled" by the images.

"We expect the highest standards of behaviour and respect from all our staff.

"These images were brought to our attention in the past 48 hours and an investigation commenced immediately. We believe the video was produced about four years ago and the photos were taken more than a year ago.

"One of the staff members concerned no longer works for Air New Zealand and the other two have been removed from duties pending the outcome of our investigation.

"It goes without saying that this is a situation we are treating with extreme seriousness - and our obvious concern is that the behaviour displayed is a clear breach of not just our code of conduct but basic decency."

E Tu, the union that represents cabin crew, said it would "look after its members" and would not comment further on the matter.
