A second man has appeared in court in relation to a violent brawl in south Auckland at the weekend which left a man fighting for his life in hospital.
The 21-year-old, who can not be identified, is charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after the incident at a Rollerson St address on Saturday night.
He was denied bail when he appeared before a Justice of the Peace in Papakura District Court today and will appear again early next year.
Another man, who can be named as 21-year-old Royce Grace, faces a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to the 30-year-old victim, who today remained in a serious but stable condition in Auckland Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.
Police were alerted to the incident after reports of people fighting outside a house party and using knives, sticks and rocks as weapons.
Following the brawl, police who found the victim initially thought he had been stabbed in the head, such were the seriousness of his injuries.
