A woman involved in a two-car head-on collision near Nelson yesterday has died.
Atapo King, 73, was the driver of one of the cars that collided on State Highway 6 at Wakapuaka, 6km north of Nelson, about 5.20pm, Senior Sergeant Stu Koefoed said.
Ms King was taken to hospital with critical injuries and died about six hours later.
Three others were cut from the vehicles and were taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Mr Koefoed said the crash occurred when one of the vehicles crossed the centreline.
Speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash.
