A former top bodybuilder has died suddenly while on holiday with her family.
Priscilla Freeman, 44, was at Hanmer Springs in North Canterbury when she became unconscious in her room on Friday.
Emergency services were called but she could not be revived.
Her death has been referred to the coroner.
Mother-of-four Mrs Freeman is the wife of Christchurch property developer Richard Freeman, director of Onyx Homes.
Mr Freeman has been devastated by her sudden death.
"Priscilla touched everyone's lives and was such a giving person always putting herself last. She leaves an unfillable hole in several lives," he wrote on Facebook in tribute to his "soulmate" who he called PC.
"Such a wonderful person and one in a million. I love you my wee girl. Rest in peace gorgeous girl. All I have is beautiful memories xxxxxxx."
Her funeral will be held at Harewood Crematorium Chapel at 1.30pm on Friday.
Mrs Freeman was one of New Zealand's top bodybuilders in the 90s and early 2000s.
In 2001, she was runner up in the Miss Universe crown in the short figure category after winning the New Zealand title that year.
