Retailer Hallenstein Glasson Holdings' new chief executive is Stephen Timms, whose most recent position was group chief operating officer for Ascendia Retail in Australia.
Hallenstein Glasson chairman Warren Bell said the appointment was the result of an extensive search.
He said Timms had significant experience in the retail industry, having held senior positions in Australia and America.
Before working at Ascendia he held senior posts with DFS in a career spanning 13 years.
Acting chief executive Roy Dillon will leave the job on March 31.
