Weather warning for Fiji as cyclone moves closer

Warnings are in force for Fiji as a tropical cyclone moves closer.

Cyclone Daman is a category three storm and is located about 200 kilometres north-west of Fiji. It is expected to hit land later today.

MetService forecaster Lee Matheson says hurricane warnings are in place for some islands. She says the Yasawa Group, northern Viti Levu and western Vanua Levu have hurricane force warnings in place. Winds are expected to reach between 120 and 180 kilometres an hour.
