US airport worker loses control of fuel hose, sprays flammable liquid across tarmac

Footage captured at a Texas airport shows the dramatic moment a routine refuelling of a plane went awry.

The worker at Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport (DFW) is seen putting fuel into an American Eagle plane when, as they go to disconnect the hose, the fuel does not stop pouring out and sprays everywhere.

Fuel continues to shoot out of the hose, forcing it to move from side to side, showering the flammable liquid under and on the plane.

The liquid continues to pour out for nearly a minute before a worker comes and turns off the connection.

Nearby gates were closed while the mess was cleaned up, The Sun reported.

No injuries or damage were reported.

American Airlines confirmed the incident to the New York Post.

“We are looking into the incident with DFW Airport and the airport’s fuelling contractor, Menzies, and worked together on the clean-up per procedure.”

An airport spokesperson told the outlet the spill was contained by its safety systems and the surface was cleaned.

The exact amount of fuel spilt is unknown.
