As a teenager in Ireland, U2 front man Bono longed for the voice of reason from somebody such as the Rev Martin Luther King jnr.
In 1984, he wrote the hit song Pride (In the Name of Love), about the slain civil rights leader.
Yesterday, Bono accepted an honour from The King
Centre, an organisation founded by King's widow, Coretta Scott King, for his global activism.
The Target Corporation received the same award for its charitable work around the country.
