Two more arrested as police probe Heathrow pepper spray assault

British police today arrested two more people over an alleged robbery attempt involving the use of pepper spray at a Heathrow Airport carpark.

Police were called to Terminal 3’s multi-storey carpark on Sunday following reports that multiple people had been injured by a toxic substance.

London’s Metropolitan Police said two further suspects had been detained: a 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

According to police, two women were robbed of their suitcases after they got out of a carpark lift.

The men who robbed them then sprayed what is believed to be pepper spray, affecting others in the vicinity.

At least 21 people, including a 3-year-old girl, needed medical attention after the incident.

Five were taken to hospital, all of whom have been discharged, police said.

Officers previously arrested one person: a 31-year-old man who was detained near the scene on Sunday.

He has since been released pending further investigations.

Terminal 3 at Europe’s busiest airport remained open throughout, but the incident prompted severe traffic and public transport disruption in the area, according to officials and reports.

Passengers complained about having missed flights due to its impact.
