NEW YORK - A man slit the throat of a woman who was baby-sitting her two grandchildren, sexually assaulted one of the children, before shooting himself in a Long Island home, Associated Press reports.
Police said they negotiated with Phillip Zagarella, 50, by telephone for hours and determinedhe was drunk, according to AP.
The children were let go a few hours later.
When police entered the home Zagarella was already dead.
