Two dead, 20 injured in shooting rampage

A patron at a bar in Elgin, Illinois, yesterday went on an early morning shooting rampage, killing two people and injuring 20.

Police said a 43-year-old man had been asked to leave JB's Pub in Elgin, 66km northeast of Chicago, and indicated to employees that he would return.

At about 12.40 am, shots were fired in the car park and inside the family-type restaurant and bar, which was not known for rowdy crowds.

Other patrons eventually subdued the suspect.

Twenty people, 10 men and 10 women, were taken to hospital. Two, including a bartender, were pronounced dead at the scene.
