A quake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale has struck off the coast of the Andaman Islands in India.
The quake struck at 7.55am (NZT) and had a focal depth of 33.1km.
According to the US Geological Survey website, the quake was felt in Port Blair in the Andaman Islands and in near-by Burma.
