Donald Trump’s real estate empire is going Downunder, with the Trump Organization unveiling plans for a towering beach development in Surfers Paradise.
The company announced plans for the Trump International Hotel & Tower Gold Coast today, its first project in Australia, according to the Guardian.
“I am so proud toannounce what will soon be the tallest building in Australia,” Eric Trump wrote on X, saying he could not be “more excited to help shape [the Gold Coast’s] iconic skyline forever”.
Queensland-based developer Altus Property Group chief executive David Young confirmed he signed the deal with the Trumps at their Mar-a-Lago estate on February 14.

“At 340m in height, and 91 storeys, it will outstretch the Australia 108 building in Melbourne by 15m and leave every other Australian resort property in its wake when it comes to luxury,” Young said.
He said the resort project was currently in the design, engineering and construction planning stages, with 270 apartments proposed and expected to sell for about $5.9 million each.
ABC Australia reported the tower would also feature a beach club, swimming pool, luxury brand stores and restaurants.

Acting Gold Coast Mayor Mark Hammel said the city welcomed the investment, but had yet to receive a formal application, according to the Guardian.
“A formal development application will be required, and we look forward to considering the application once it is received,” he said.

Young revealed on the Altus Property Group website that the project, which he hopes will attract the “world’s wealthiest people” had been almost two decades in the making.
“In 2007 I cold-called Ivanka Trump,” he said.
“From that conversation sprang a business relationship that will be consummated when we start construction at the 3 Trickett St site in Surfers this year.”
ABC Australia reported Young also sought to dispel what he described as common misconceptions about Trump-branded buildings, including “gaudy gold-plated bathroom fixtures, mirrors and heavy chandeliers”.
He said the project would instead reflect a “high-end design” and “premium feel” similar to Trump developments in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
Young claimed construction would commence later this year.
The Guardian reported another skyscraper, One Park Lane, is also planned for the Gold Coast and would stand about 50m taller than the proposed Trump tower.
