Tributes paid to Australian actor Candy Raymond who has died aged 75

Australian actor Candy Raymond has died aged 75.

Raymond worked in film and television, and quickly became a household name in the 1970s and early 1980s, becoming best known for her roles in the groundbreaking Australian soap opera Number 96 and TV series Prisoner.

In Number 96, Raymond played Jill Sheridan who was presented as a sex symbol and was involved in several nude scenes – becoming a topic of high controversy at the time.

In Prisoner, she played an imprisoned journalist Sandra Hamilton.

Facebook users were quick to pay tribute to the late actor, with one person writing, “great Australian actor rest easy beautiful”.

Another wrote, “how very sad may she rest in perfect peace”.

Raymond’s other credits include: Don’s Party, Alvin Rides Again, Breaking Up, The Norman Gunston Show and more.

Her latest work was in 2008, when she appeared in the documentary Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation in which she spoke about her experience being in Australian films of the 1970s.
