Topless road rage driver ran at cop with knife, tried to smash into off-duty cop's car twice

A topless woman wielding a knife charged at an off-duty cop in Massachusetts in a road-rage attack early Saturday afternoon, police claim.

Susan Kettell was spotted driving her SUV erratically by the cop who then called 911, the Sandwich Police Department said.

Things allegedly escalated from there, culminating in Kettell, 39, grabbing a dagger as she commenced her half-nude assault, the Daily Mail reported.

The cop saw Kettell driving her blue Ford Explorer at about 12.20pm on Saturday in Sandwich, near Cape Cod, the SPD claimed.

After the cop made the call, she allegedly tried to smash into his car twice before pulling up next to him at a red light and flicking a cigarette at him.

"The female began waving a double-edged dagger knife out of the window," police said.

"She exited the Explorer, removed her clothing, and ran bare-chested towards the victim, flailing the dagger."

The cop drove away from Kettell.

When they tracked her down, they also found a local man unconscious in the car along with opened bottles of Guinness, the Cape Cod Times reported.

The man was placed in protective custody. The dagger was found in her bag, police said, and she failed an alcohol test.

Kettell was scheduled to be arraigned Monday (US time) to face 10 charges, including three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon, lewd, wanton and lascivious conduct, operating under the influence of liquor, second offence; and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

The other counts are littering from a car, possessing an open container of alcohol in a car and improper operation of a motor vehicle.

This isn't the first time that Kettell, known locally for running the My Tin Man Diner with her mother in Falmouth, about 32km away, has been in trouble with the law.

In April, she was arrested for throwing a rock through the door of a Sandwich supermarket in a quest for a pie, according to the Cape Cod Times.

On April 26, police responded to an alarm at Lambert's Farm Market to find a door smashed open and a pie on the ground.

They then spotted Kettell crawling out of a dog house at the Happy Tails dog wash, clutching bags of chips and other food, according to a police report.

Cops said that Kettell smelled strongly of alcohol, and admitted smashing into the store to steal food because she was hungry.

She was also reportedly taken to hospital complaining that she had swallowed glass in the pie she had taken, although medics later said that was not the case.
